Publication schedule tied to Network Rail's 13-period railway year.
Gauge Intelligence publishes on a cadence tied to the Network Rail period calendar.
The railway year
Network Rail’s financial year runs from April to March, divided into thirteen periods of approximately four weeks each. Periods are referenced using the notation P[number] [financial year] — for example, Period 1 2026-27 is the first period of the year starting April 2026.
This thirteen-period structure governs the timing of all Gauge Intelligence publications. Every published figure is aligned to a rail period, ensuring direct comparability with Network Rail’s own periodic reporting and with ORR regulatory publications.
Publication types
Period-end corridor snapshots
At the close of each rail period, Gauge Intelligence publishes corridor performance snapshots, typically within five days of period close. Each snapshot covers A2F punctuality, delay breakdown, and Schedule 8 exposure for the period just ended.
These snapshots are the regular drumbeat of the archive. Thirteen periods per year, across the national freight corridor network.
Ad-hoc commentary
Occasional commentary on disruptions, possession impacts, and regulatory developments is published as warranted. These are not scheduled; they are triggered by events worth documenting for the public record.
Current year: 2026-27
The 2026-27 railway year started in April 2026. Publication of period-end snapshots begins with Period 1 2026-27.
