Operators
Freight operating companies running services on the UK rail network. Each operator page shows corridor presence, aggregate performance, and links to reports where they appear.
An operator is a company licensed to run freight trains on the UK rail network. Gauge Intelligence tracks freight operating companies (FOCs) and infrastructure operators because operator-level performance — punctuality, delay attribution, Schedule 8 liability — is what determines whether a service is commercially viable and where accountability sits when things go wrong.
Each operator has a living reference page that updates at every period close.
Performance summary — Period 2 2026-27
Operator-attributed A2F — services counted by operating company across every corridor traversal. Computed nationally across all corridor traversals for each FOC. For corridor-stratified figures and Simpson’s-paradox handling, see the league-table methodology.

Journeys and A2F are computed live from Network Rail TRUST data across Period 2 2026-27. Journeys are non-cancelled services attributed to each operator by TRUST toc_id. Cancellations are excluded from the A2F denominator; null delay is treated as on time (consistent with the operator period-report methodology). The 12-week trailing mean is unavailable for every operator at this stage: the TRUST data window only extends back to 23 February 2026 (Period 12 2025-26), and no operator carries a defensible trailing sample yet. Trailing means backfill once enough prior periods accumulate. Corridors is editorial — the count of corridors an operator runs services on — and backfills as each operator’s archive page publishes.
Coverage
The published archive covers ten UK freight operating companies as at the industry review edition of 2 June 2026. Each entity page carries identity, corridor footprint, and links to period reports where available. Period reports backfill as each operator accumulates sufficient closed periods of clean TRUST data. For methodology, see league-table methodology.
